My engagement

Yes. I am now officially single, but definitely NOT AVAILABLE. hehe. Pada hari Ahad 20hb Disember 2009. I got engaged. Alhamdulillah.

My fiancee is Furzani Paee or Pujen for short. The ceremony was in Muar, Johor. She went back to Malaysia but I didn't. I was in my room at 3am watching the web cam through Skype. Did not get the chance to see the ceremony from start to finish. But alhamdulillah, apparently everything went well.

Arep is a dear friend of many. I knew him from Nottingham. It was a shock to hear the news of his accident. A tragic end to what supposed to be the happiest day of his life.

Allah s.w.t. loves him more. May Allah forgive his sins and grant him the heavens. May Allah places him, his parents and his friend in that accident among those of of the highest believers. Amiin.

Sedih benar berita ini. Tangisan mata dtg dan pergi. Tak tenteram daku dibuatnya. Senyuman comel Arep tidak lah dapat daku lihat lagi...

Ingatlah, kematian itu pasti. Tidaklah kita dapat mengelaknya, menangguhnya dan juga mengetahui bila ia akan berlaku. Dan bila tiba masa kita, tidaklah apa2 yg dapat membantu kita selain pahala yg kita sedang kumpul di dunia ini. Takutkan lah azab Allah, bersihkan diri dari dosa. Hidup ini sementara dan org yg bijak adalah mereka yg senantiasa mengingati mati dan membuat persediaan ke arah kematian itu.

Semoga kehilangan Arep dapat mengingatkan kita tentang kematian kita sendiri.

Just one of those days - FORGOT MY PASSWORD!

Today was not a good day. Made a lot of silly things. Let me tell you what happened today...

First incident was this morning - I told the bus driver that I wanted to go to Sainsburry but actually, I wanted to go to the Royal Mail post office to collect my parcel. It was the just the next stop, but since I clearly told the bus driver that I wanted to go to Sainsburry, he stopped at Sainsburry and chose not to proceed the bus. I at first did not notice that he stopped because of me. I fortunately, a couple minutes later, after he stopped realised this. I blurrly walked to the bus driver and said with a dumb face "Excuse me, can you let me down here...". As soon as I got off the bus, the bus moved. I think the other passengers were a little pissed at me. But I can never know because I never really got to look at the other passengers. But sure enough, from the look on the face of the bus driver, he was not pleased. huhu. sorry!

Credit to miss Pujen for this incident too because I was talking to her on the phone the entire time when the bus stopped at the Sainsburry's bus stop. hehe.

Second incident - An incident on the bus to go back home. I paid the driver my fare and tried to take the ticket/receipt from the ticket machine. I forcefully pulled the ticket until the roll moved a little. The bust driver raised his voice and said "Excuse me! Just let me get that for you // Just let me tear that // Tear it carefully // Just leave it". All the (//) was to show that I did not really hear what he said. I just replied "Okay", leaving the ticket and went inside the bus to get a seat. I bet the bus driver was not pleased at all with my blurry dumb attitude. huhu. sorry!

Third incident - I was going to get down from the bus when Faizal (whom I accompanied to go to Sainsburry) said that he wanted to get down on the next stop. He told me to carry his groceries to home. I shortly and promptly said yes, but when the bus stopped, I just got down and left the bag. I realised that I did not take Faizal's groceries bag from him only after I had got off the bus. Faizal was a little weirded out from my actions when I apologised to him at home later on after that.

Well, at least I did say thanks to the unpleased bus driver when I got down. Faizal is one of my housemates btw. He wanted to get down on the next stop to go to Tesco.


The parcel that I went to collect was the day light bulb at the left. The bulb at the right was bought at PoundSaver. Cheap but not that bright. I am now using the new bulb I bought at Amazon for my room. It is now very bright. White light. No yellow light anymore :)

I was hoping that the sillyness of the day ended with the bus incidents, but it did not. When I came back from my lab, I tried to open my YM and yahoo mail account like normal. But today is just one of those days, so I decided to forget the new password that I recently change. Argh!. Geram, bengang, sengal, mengong, stupid. uhuh. Fortunately, my computer still remembers my password, so I can still sign in for now. I accessed my email and saved all my contacts. I even created a new email and forwarded all the email from my normal email to this new email account.

I intentionally created a similar email address to hopefully ease people into the new email. huhu. No notification yet on the email change. Still hoping that I could access the change your password option. If only I can remember the answer to the security question: What was my pet's name?. uhuh. Sengal la hari ni. Tak dapat buat keje langsung. huhu.

kurang best2 yeah!

Late entry: Just realised that I was wearing my ear muffs this morning during all three incidents. It might just be that the ear muffs were too tight and pressed my brain too much that made me not think properly, making me behaving in such a ridiculous manner.

Or maybe the ear muffs made me hear less of what people around me are saying. The first bus driver must have called me to get down before I realised I was supposed to get down. The second bus driver... well, it is very well possible that did not hear him because I wore the ear muffs. With Faizal... no explanation but maybe the muffs just made me dumb.



















But don't get me wrong. I am still going to wear the ear muffs because it makes my ears warm and cosy :)

Weak week

It was a weak week. Not only playing with words but it was. Meeting dgn SV dan advisor utk pre-continuation meeting yg lewat. Amat lah kena bertebal muka kerana lambat mengschedule meeting dan sebagainya.

"I think your not taking this seriously enough" kata beliau. huhu.

Now kena focus on getting the write up done. Send it to Geoff. And hope for the best.


Tapi kena juga buat lab work. Yg resultnya juga perlu utk result section write up. huhu. Buat lah sedaya mungkin.

Muslim Youth Foundation talk:










Di city ada MYF nye mosque. Mereka buat talk every week. Daku pergi lah bersama2 rakan2 di sepetang hari Rabu. Lepas talk, pergi lah beli Singapore noodle di Rice restaurant. First time beli actually. I want to try all the noodles in the menu. Boleh tahan la sedap nya, tapi mahal. huhu.

Good analogy from the MYF talk to share:
Berdakwah (berseru org kepada membuat kebaikan) adalah seperti kita menjaga rumah kita utk menerima tetamu.
Apabila kita duduk di rumah sendiri, mula la buat perangai sendiri. Kasut tak susun, ruang tamu selerak, bantal sofa hilang, dsb. Bila menerima tetamu, kita cepat2 kemas rumah, susun surat khabar kat ruang tamu, betul kan bantal, dsb. External factor, ie tetamu membuat kita lebih mengemas/membaiki diri.
Sama lah juga dgn berdakwah. Dgn berdakwah, org luar akan menanya2 kita tentang byk perkara2 yg berbagai2 sebagai respon kepada kita menyeru mereka kepada kebaikan. Dan utk mengemas diri/membaiki diri/menyediakan diri, kita akan lebih membaca dan berbuat berbagai2 utk menimba ilmu agar kita dapat menghadapi mereka2 ini.

Point yg membawa kepada analogi ini adalah yg menangguh berdakwah kerana tak cukup ilmu adalah alasan yg kurang munasabah. Tiada ukuran yg seseorang itu sudah cukup ilmu utk berdakwah kepada org lain. Malah, dgn berdakwah, ia akan secara langsung akan menambah ilmu kerana kita sentiasa mahu mengemas rumah utk menerima tetamu. Tetamu itu adalah rahmat. Dan ingat, dakwah adalah menyeru manusia lain kepada Allah, beramal keranaNya dan meninggalkan yg mungkar. Wallahu a'lam.

Cover your mouth

Jumaat lepas, solat di MRI Hospital. Ada prayer room dlm ramai org muslims yg berkumpul utk solat Jumaat. I was not feeling that well with hidung tersumbat and coughing. While I was on my way out of the hospital, I started to cough. A nurse behind me called out "Could you cover your mouth please". I turned and immediately said "Sorry!". Continued coughing, covering my mouth with my hands.


These hygenic hand rubs can be found everywhere in the hospitals, especially at the doors before entering any wards. It is great that they have these. I got my hands cleaned from my cough with this before I got out of the hospital.

At home, went googling and found this: Cover your cough poster. Apparently covering your cough or sneeze with your hands is wrong. You should instead cover it with your upper sleeves if you don't have any tissue with you. huhu. Now I know.


Whitworth Park and Ziarah Rumah:
Sunday lepas was a good day to go out. Glad that I did. But not that happy when I think about all the work that I could be doing if I didn't. Tried not to think about it too much. huhu. Tapi overall, it was a good fun day out :)











Ahad itu daku pergi ke rumah kakSyida and abgAwie. Menziarahi keluarga angkat miss Pujen. Jumpa la anak2 ewan, farah and farhana. Bermain wii dan melihat dgn kekaguman koleksi furniture, dishware and bunga2 batu. Hasil scavenging di carboot, ebay dan di merata2 tempat di UK. Padat rumah dgn berbagai perkara2.

More:
- hidung mmg senantiasa berhingus sekarang. batuk pula sudah mula berkahak. uhuh
- first year transfer report masih lagi in kritikal mode.
- esok ada presentation la plak.
- meeting with supervisor and advisor tak schedule lagi. dan ini kena la cuba buat sebelum SV outstation lagi. huhu.
- ticket flight bulan 6 tahun depan sudah boleh beli. tapi hanya setelah memberitahu SV masing2. insyaAllah this week.

Dinner with lab mates

Rabu lepas, daku pergi lah bersama2 rakan2 se lab keluar makan dinner bersama2. Kami pergi makan di Las Iguanas. A latin and brazillian restaurant.


Di meja bulat kami bermakan. From my left - me, Adrian, Urooj, Samuel, Marina, Zhabiz, Sean and Mehlika. Kami semua adalah student di bawah supervision Dr Geoff Robson. Termasuk juga Fadwa dan Somayeh yg tidak dapat join malam itu.











Menu yg halal adalah chicken and the alternative vegetarian. Daku memilih makan dish Brazillian Xinxim. Lihat lah gambar2.










Kuah ayam bersantan and nuts. Atas pinggan ada nasi, more coconut, beans and pisang goreng. (rindu benar makan pisang goreng. huhu). Anyways, overall, daku tak berapa berkenan dgn dish ini. Agak sedikit plain and too much coconut. But then again, daku takleh complain sbb daku bukannya pakar pemakanan. huhu.


Selepas makan2 kami bertolak menziarahi rumah Zhabiz yg berhampiran. Rumah beliau agak best. Tak tanya rent tapi for sure mahal lah. Kami suma chat all night di restaurant dan di rumah Zhabiz pasal pelbagai perkara.

Salah satu perkara adalah berkenaan perancangan ikatan daku kepada miss Furzani. Mereka2 telah ucapkan tahniah kepada daku dan bertanya berbagai2 perkara berkenaan perkahwinan di Malaysia and muslim marriages. huhu. I tried my best to explain everything.

It was a good night out. I got sick, feverish the next day and missed a meeting and some lab work. Now batuk2 and hingus. Berzikir lah bila sakit kerana paracetamol adalah ubat badan fizikal manakala zikir adalah ubat rohani dan jiwa. insyaAllah.

Allright, back to work. Kritikal benar sekarang. Mula lah panik2. huhu.

Autumn ends with two Birthdays

Autumn pertama di Manchester. Cuaca autumn yg berangin sejuk dan berpanas cahaya mentari. best2. Not too hot and not too cold - just nice.











These pictures were taken after my tennis practice with En Idzehan at Plattfields Park. It was a lovely sight with all the leaves starting to fall and the birds waddling all over the place. I wish I had spent some time taking pictures in the park.

But now, autumn has ended. It ended this week when it started to rain and the weather becoming colder. Autumn ended with a couple of birthdays in Manchester.

Birthday Party:























Daughter of En Shabu and Pn Syazreen, named Syafeea had just turned 1. And sharing the same birthday, En Rashdan, our beloved Manchester friend who turned 23. Abu and Ummu Syafeea celebrated their daughter's first birthday with a small party at their house.

It was a decent party. The girls celebrated with Syafeea first and the boys turn came afterwards. It was quite dissapointing when we did not really get any time to play with Syafeea because she was already tired from playing around with the girls before we came. huhu.

Pic 1: Worldwide - tempat mana kami membeli barang2 groceries and ayam halal. Just about 100 metres away from our house. So close and very convinient.
Pic 2: Magic Bus - bus biru yg frequent naik turun Oxford Road yg mana fare adalah cheap. Daku tidak menaiki bas setiap hari ke sekolah sbb boleh jalan sahaja.
Pic 3: Subway Halal - restoran sandwich yg best. Lokasi juga dekat sahaja dgn rumah. Daku bukan peminat hardcore but some sandwiches yg mereka ada adalah quite good. mmm. Ada kupon dan insyaAllah akan guna in the near future sbb kupon expires end of November. huhu.

Medal:

I don't know whether I have recieved a sport medal before. But this could possibly be my first ever, and probably the only one. huhu. Medal from the Manchester Super Cup football tournament a few weeks back. My team won first place. I contributed a few passes and that was about it. haha. It is so funny when I associate myself with a winning football team. It is so not me!

- Akan mahu beli sim kad lebara sbb nak ganti O2 yg mcm cepat sgt habis credit and kena top up selalu. huhu.
- Hujan sepanjang minggu amat kurang memberangsangkan. Sejuk pagi mmg mencabar.

Weekend 44 - Tiring Fun

Nottingham Malaysian Games 2009 telah berlangsung pada 30 Oktober, Sabtu lalu. Daku pergi bersama kontijen Manchester utk pergi bermain tennis. Pagi itu agak tak best sbb org ramai berkumpul pukul 4.30am sbb dikatakan bas bertolak pukul 4.45am, tapi bas lambat. In the end, kami bertolak dari Manchester pukul 6am. uhuh. Yg bagusnya, sempat aje sampai on time - kenapalah tak suruh berkumpul utk bertolak pukul 6am aje? huhu. Ape2pun, perjalanan Alhamdulillah selamat2 semua.










Setelah sampai, daku straight away ke tennis courts bersama2 rakan2 seManchester. Terlupa utk menangkap gambar2 players. Gambar2 yg ada adalah Datuk Shabery Cheek, Menteri Belia dan Sukan yg dtg bersama org2 office beliau utk bermain tennis dgn budak2.

Nak mention bahawa MSSM (Malaysian Student's Society of Manchester) menghantar 4 players dari Manchester - 2 under nama Manchester University dan 2 under nama Manchester Metropolitan University. Daku bermain under nama Manchester Metropolitan University bersama dgn en Idzehan. Daku first round menang default sbb opponent tak dtg. Second round agak tak best sbb kena lawan rakan Melvin dari Manchester juga. Daku kalah dgn beliau 3-6. uhuh. Agak kurang berpuas hati sebab bermain satu set sahaja. Lepas kalah tu, time around 2pm, daku teruslah berjalan tinggalkan kawasan bermain utk ke Portland Building utk mencari rakan2 kenalan dan makan2. yeah2.










Gambar2 menunjukkan geng2 SB yg membuka gerai menjual makanan di Notts Games. Mereka2 menjual mee. Daku membeli lah sbb geng punya pasal. hehe. Sedap benar rupanya. Lama tak makan mee. huhu. Hampa di tempat org menjual sbb tak ada byk variety. Roti canai pun takde. huhu.

I spent the rest of the day hanging around booth MSM. Sembang2 dgn berbagai2 teman yg telah lama tak jumpa. It was a good day meeting all the old and new faces.

The day before Saturday:


Daku pergi ke KFC bersama en Dodo, housemet, utk membeli makanan surprise party utk gf beliau. KFC Halal Approved di Oldham - gambar. Bought myself a Zinger. Sedap. The chicken was good but not as good as the one in Malaysia. I don't know why. I bought also a bucket for miss Pujen and her house to share.













Daku juga telah menemani org rumah miss Pujen ke Asda membeli brg2. Gambar atas adalah kami fooling around dgn topi witch Halloween. Sabtu, esok hari nya adalah Halloween rupannya. haha. Trick or treat lah org2 UK di sini.

The day after Saturday:


Daku merasai lagi tiramisu miss Pujen yg pakar tiramisu. Sedap lah benar. Ahad tersebut adalah hari makan2 di rumah miss Pujen. Daku pergilah utk menjamu selera sambil2 memasang dan membetulkan furniture2, berkenalan dgn org2 baru, dan juga bermain Wii miss Pujen yg best. Main sampai penat tangan. Main tennis Notts Games pun tak penat tangan. haha. Terima kasih kepada warga rumah miss Pujen kerana menjemput daku.

- kepenatan hujung minggu mmg terasa di pagi Isnin.
- buat kerja di rumah and tak pergi lab hari Isnin - tapi kerja menulis masih lagi tidak memuaskan. uhuh.
- nostalgic benar bila ke Nottingham. Byk juga perubahan bangunan2. Ini baru setahun meninggalkan Nottingham. haha.
- byk nya perkara2 nak buat and kena buat - mula menghargai masa terluang yg dihadapi beberapa bulan lalu. huhu.
- Datuk Shabery Cheek ada facebook.
- Dr MAZA kena tuduh tak bertauliah? apekah? kenapa lah mereka berbuat begini?

ya Allah, permudahkan lah urusan2 kami, lancarkan lah penulisan kami dan lindungi lah kami dari gangguan syaitan yg sentiasa menghasut manusia menjauhiMu. Amiin.

Ahad lepas ada program ISK - Ini Sejarah Kita. Daku pergi utk mengrefreshkan kembali memory dan melihat adik2 juniors in action. Mantap2 lah mereka ini. Alhamdulillah.

Laboratory stories:











First pic: plate2 daku yg mengkonfiuskan dan mentensionkan. uhuh. Took me quite some time to sort these fungal isolates. argh! working with fungi is so frustrating! huhu

Second pic: Galleria mellonella (moth) larvae. Stock baru experiment Fadwa baru sampai aritu. Beliau mencucuk Aspergillus fumigatus ke dalam larvae2 ini utk menguji pathogenicity. Geli benar bila larvae2 ini crawl atas tangan. Kesian juga kepada mereka yg menjadi sacrifice for science. huhu.

Third pic: kawasan meja daku ditutup dgn plastic2 beberapa hari lalu. Ini kerana mereka2 mahu mengecat dinding2. Akan tetapi, bila kami kembali the next day, tiada nampak beza pun. Bau cat aje yg ada. pelik2. The area looked like it got contaminated and quarantined aje that evening. heh.

My deposit:

I made a last attempt to contact my previous landlord to demand our deposits. I got a reply letter from the wife, apparently she was the dalang. uhuh.

Agak bengang memikirkan deposit GBP250 per person kami diambil keseluruhan begitu saya. Mcm tak adil aje manusia ini. uhh. Well, at least now I know why she did not give our money back. I still think the reason is not good enough. geram... bertenang2~

Sweet chocolates:










I received chocolates from miss Pujen twice this week. It was so sweet of her :) Loved the chocolates, mengubati perkara2 yg tak best this week. Thanks miss Pujen. Selamat2 lah membuat kerja2 dan cubalah balik awal sikit. Hati2 bila jalan balik rumah tu ye.

A good name:


Err, takde la good name. Tapi best gak la nama surname dia. haha. Sedikit censored tapi takpe lah :p Gambar diambil dari dlm toilet lelaki.

I wonder, does the person really holds up to his name? hehe. I bet everytime he introduces himself, someone will have a laugh inside. Or is it just me? haha.
