The name of the building with my workdesk is Michael Smith Building and the name of the building with my lab is Stopford Building. These two buildings are two of three buildings of the Faculty of Life Sciences. And these buildings are interconnected by bridges, so that you don't really need to get outside one building to get into another.
Di Stopford ada byk lab. And so byk la precautions dia sbb lab2 pun lab lama2. Aritu ada lockdown. First picture left adalah bridge door lockdown. Ada flashing light and alarm. Second picture adalah main entrance Stopford di mana ramai org menunggu utk masuk building. Byk kali dah lockdown ni jadi. Daku hanya buat dunno je jikalau masa lockdown tu daku ada di lab. Kerja2 berbahaya di Stopford hanya terdapat di 4th floor. Not accessable by me. My lab is at 1st floor. Sgt tak berbahaya. heh.
Sempat juga daku ke Rusholme petang itu. Tak byk lab work. First pic, look at the beautiful sky on Oxford street heading to Rusholme. 2nd pic, Oxford Street heading to Manchester city. Third pic, the Student Union building. It was a good day to go outside. btw, Rusholme adalah di mana kedai2 halal di Manchester byk. Went there for groceries and meat.
First pic, beras yg daku beli di Worldwide. GBP6.99. Beras dah habis so beli la lagi 5kg beras basmati. Good quality beras. But for dinner daku just makan pasta pomodoro (pic 2). Lately, masakan sos pasta menjadi. Sgt sedap sekali.

Kebelakangan ini, cuaca di Manchester agak tak tentu arah. Semalam hujan 10 minit, then sunny 10 minit, then hujan balik (lebih kurang lah). Pening daku, sejuk suam pening kepala.

Susah btul nak concentrate dgn weather begini. Reminds me of how much I hate UK weather at times. Some people say, in UK there are 3 Ws that are unpredictable - weather, work, women. hey, derang kata bukan daku. huhu.
Dalam hujan2 dan sunny2, seekor cacing sedang melintas kaki lima. I hope the worm survived. Didn't help it because it was icky and I was clean. heh.
Hey, I am not disgusted by it. I remember that I used to dig up for worms, throw frogs away from our bathroom, catch tortoises at our back yard, chase ostriches around. hehe. True story. Me and my bro used to do all those stuff, we used to live in a compound with a mini zoo in it. My dad is a vet officer.
Show and tell: This is a defender all purpose alarm. I got it for free from a policeman promoting some safety measures to student. This alarm can basically be used when you are mugged. Instead of screaming for attention, you can press this gadget and it will make a loud noise alarm. It is really loud, I must say. I'm keeping it for my children. hehe.
Something at the side: Inilah dia Ujian, the whistling orang utan yg siulnya telah dibuat lagu CD. Boleh exclusively dgr lagu dgn siulnya di sini. Maaf, tak dapat translate page. Tajuk lagu adalah "Ich bin Ujian" atau translation "I am Ujian". Lagu dia best woo. very catchy. hehe.

Last Friday, Fadwa (a fellow PhD student) brought some arabic coffee to the lab. She treats everyone with the coffee. My first time drinking arabic coffee. I can't say it was my taste. It has a distinctive taste, can't explain it. Does not taste funny though. hehe.
Inilah dia arabic coffee yg dihidang dlm cawan kecik.

Derang mention adatnya, mmg beri org minum sikit2 je. Dan kalo nak, minta lah lagi. Jikalau org offer, and nak politely cakap taknak, adatnya adalah menghulurkan cawan kecik ni dgn goyang2 sikit. hehe. alaa, mcm kat hotel or restaurant, kalo tak nak org refill air kosong tu, just politely place your finger at the top of the glass.
But of course, telling the person you don't want more also works.
Tak dapat nak tunjuk gambar org2 tgh minum coffee sebab Fadwa tak ske org tangkap gambar dia. uhuh. Don't know why, but quite dissapointing. Daku tak tanya kenapa takleh sbb malas nak debate and masa tu kena pegi solat Jumaat dah. I just deleted the pic. btw, Fadwa dari Arab Saudi and beliau pakai face veil. Kalo org tangkap gambar dia pun, tak akan dapat identify dia. hehe. (daku tiada niat utk kutuk anyone oke, just stating what I felt)

This is the most expensive ruler I have bought in my life. It is a metal ruler with some cork-like material on the back to stop it from slippering. I needed a metal ruler, and apparently this is the most cheapest I can find. uhh. Cost me 4 quid. Needed the ruler to help cut plastic sheets.
Akhirnya, sudah bermula outdoor experiment daku. Pictures above adalah polyurethane digantung di tali2. InsyaAllah, plastic2 ini akan di biodegrade oleh microbes dlm udara. Dlm masa 4 bulan, daku akan dtg kembali utk mengambil sample. Hopefully everything goes well according to plan.

The night before, daku tak tido. Have trouble sleeping recently. Don't know why. uhuh. The whole day mamai - not enjoyable.
That morning, ada meeting with supervisor. He will be off to Thailand for 2 weeks. Came in early but he did not show up. And after 1 hour of waiting, baru lah co-supervisor berkata meeting with him cancelled and instead meeting with her. But masa tu dah lepas dah waktu meeting, she had sth else to do. Alahai, terlepas meeting. Supervisor tak dapat dtg pagi because boiler rumah dia suddenly broken. Meeting terlepas - not enjoyable.
Approaching noon, kelaparan menjelma. I decided to go to this kebab restaurant to eat. Need my energy for the day. Order doner meat and chips. Makan and rasanya - tak sedap. And mahal lak tu. It was a bad lunch - not enjoyable.
I recieved an email from the Wimbledon shop. They sadistically told me that I officially did not win the tickets. uhh. Instead, they gave me this voucher for discount if I bought 50 quid or more worth of items from their shop. I say: Boleh blah! cis2, ini teknik membuat sales. huh. Money not well worth spent - not enjoyable.
Ada lagi not enjoyable, but I should stop here.
Namun demikian, there are a few good things that happened. I finished building the outdoor experiment. With the help of Mehlika of course (another PhD student). See pic below.
Dua kayu dipacak di tanah. Screws and nails. Tali2 utk gantung plastik2 kemudian. Simple je actually. heh
I also manage to understand how to use endnote now. Takde la susah sgt rupanya. Dgn pertolongan Sean (another PhD student), I finally could effectively use endnote. Endnote adalah software utk keep track of your referencing. Agak penting agar mudah mencari kembali paper2 yg telah dibaca. I should have used it ages ago. huhu.
At the end of the day, this is life. Sure it was not enjoyable, but I think it is only not enjoyable if you make it unenjoyable. hehe. The day has its ups and downs, and I know for sure that similar days are coming ahead. Being positive, an enjoyable day it's not but a day is a day. Through all that we should say: Alhamdulillah.
I now have second thoughts about calling it a not enjoyable day. hehe.

I have tried changing to the new blogspot layout before, and I don't like it. I don't quite understand the HTML coding, and malas nak baca to understand. So, I changed back to the old layout.
What happened now? Well, I accidentally deleted (or I think I did) all the side links while I was playing around with new web designs. And I tried to do this and that... Ape2pun in the end, I ended up using this layout, the new blogspot layout. Made some modifications to the side links and done. I won't be changing anymore after this, I hope.

Wimbledon Teddy Bear dah sampai. Daku beli because nak masuk dlm cabutan utk ticket opening ceremony new tennis stadium di Wimbledon. Sepatutnya hari ni dapat reply menang atau tidak. Nampak mcm tak menang je. uhuh.

Alhamdulillah my sister got engaged. And I fortunately got to see the entire event, via webcam Skype. Cheers to the wonderful technology and the internet. hehe. Alhamdulillah, it was a good day. I will fly back to Malaysia for the majlis pernikahan. Hopefully in December 2009.
I always. somehow, manage to get my hands mostly fingers injured. From just a scratch, to a scrape, to a cut, and so on. I don't know why but the most possible reason is that I am a little clumsy. This time, I manage to burn my fingers. See pics.
Peringkat awal, peringat tengahan dan peringkat akhir melecur di jari sebelum pecah. Daku tak cucuk and keluarkan bendalir secara manual. Alhamdulillah, sudah sembuh 97% now. Masih lagi ada kesan2 kulit pecah. Marilah kita menanti, ape pula akan cedera. uhuh.
Inilah dia mesin yg melecurkan jari2 daku. Compression moulding machine. Daku guna utk melt polyurethane pellets into plastic sheets. The machine was heated to 180C when I accidentally touched it.huhu.Mengantuk masa tu, hilang focus sebentar.
Mesin2 ni ada di Materials Science Centre. Byk mesin di bengkel bawah tanah ni. Byk tak tau mesin2 berfungsi utk ape. Anyways, I think we can safely assume what this machine does by the lable. haha.

Spring dah lama tiba. Cuti easter aritu daku tak keluar Manchester. Tak byk jalan2 ke city pun. uhh. Anyways, bunga2 ni was along the path from office to my room. It was a good day.
